Heliconias belong to zingiberacea family. They grow well in wet soft soil. The flower is very unique in its structure. The plant is very fibrous, like palms. They can be used for solitary or borders and beds. They can be grown in pots but are best grown in open garden. They propagate by the rhizome and some times they can be invasive and difficult to control.
